The prosecutor’s appeal was rejected.

Five people were charged under Criminal Code Articles 182(2) and 300(1). They were accused of forging employment contracts to fraudulently acquire a high-value entitlement to unjustified maternity and paternity benefits from the State Social Insurance Fund.

The court considered whether the defendants’ conduct met the elements of either offense.

Kaunas District Court acquitted all five defendants. The prosecutor appealed, but the appellate court rejected the appeal and upheld the acquittals.
